SI is reflecting on some
remarkable achievements from
2019. One major development
was that an agreement signed in
November saw TSI Seats enter the Airbus
Buyer Furnished Equipment (BFE)
catalogue. The catalogue offers seating
choices to Airbus customers and will add
to the success story of TSI Seats by
extending its reach and its access to the
world’s leading airlines, helping ensure
growth in the market.
The company’s Skysofa and
Epianka economy class seats
now feature in the future
products section of the
Airbus BFE catalogue for the
A350 XWB, A330 and A320
aircraft families. Additional
models such as the Elesa S
economy seat and Royalux,
TSI’s first business class product,
will also be added into the potential
future products section of the catalogue
once their certification phase is complete.
TSI and Airbus have enjoyed a
successful cooperation since 2015. Since
then, TSI has delivered its first line-fit
seating for an A330 project, and in 2018
the first A321neo ACF was equipped with
TSI seating products. To further enhance
comfort in the A350, TSI’s economy class
seats can be specified with 13.3in IFE.
TSI attaches great importance to R&D,
focusing on products and technologies
that add great value for customers, and
on digital technologies that can increase
quality and reliability at every stage of
production. Safety, sustainability and
quality are of great importance to TSI.
The Royalux business class seat has
been designed to set a new benchmark
for passenger comfort in narrow-body
cabins. The seat is the result of a higher
level of passenger comfort being required
for narrow-body aircraft types flying

passenger living space and increases
privacy, with standard features including
charging points, wireless charging and
in-seat ambient lighting controls.
While Royalux has been designed
with the passenger in mind, the platform
also helps ensure that the needs of
maintenance teams and airlines are met.
A well-designed seat also facilitates
service from cabin crew, improving the
overall passenger experience.
TSI has developed not just one seat
within the same platform, but two,
enabling carriers to select a standard or
premium version, based on their own
specific needs. This model allows for a
vast majority of seat parts to be common
across TSI’s range, reducing the number
of different production parts required,
while increasing offerability and
customisation options.
longer routes, especially as the industry
has seen continuous innovation in the
design of business class seats on
widebody aircraft, which is leading
passengers to have ever-higher
expectations of the narrow-body
experience. TSI recognised an opportunity
to innovate in this space, designing and
developing the Royalux seat, which
bridges the gap in passenger comfort
between business class seating on
widebody and narrow-body aircraft.
The Royalux design team placed
particular emphasis on passenger
comfort levels, not only in terms of the
ergonomics and cushioning, but also in
achieving the optimum recline angle and
refining the mechanical structure of the
seat. In addition, the design maximises
