SUCCESS FOR
PROMESSA AV
A year after its launch, Tapis’s
PromessaAV by Ultrafabrics
– a high-performance
alternative to leather – has
secured more customers,
with the company saying
it is due to the material’s
combination of luxurious
feel, ease of maintenance,
and durability.
For example, United
Airlines selected PromessaAV
for its economy and premium

economy seating on its B737s,
B787s, B777s and B767s.
Tapis’s construction process
yields a seat cover that
distributes passenger load
away from pressure points,
wicks away moisture, and
breathes to maintain optimal
temperatures. PromessaAV
is the result of years of
comfort research and is now
available to designers, seat
manufacturers and airlines.

GARY WEISSEL FROM TAC WILL BE DISCUSSING
AN INTERIORS FORECAST FOR THE AMERICAS
AT THE CABINSPACE LIVE SEMINAR
Gary Weissel, Tronos Aviation Consulting’s (TAC)
managing officer, will be presenting TAC’s interiors
forecast for the Americas, focusing on both linefit and
retrofit markets. TAC’s presentation will focus on interior
elements such as seats, galleys, lavatories and other
major interior components. Weissel will address current
trends driving the interiors market, including what is
prompting the majority of the current interior retrofits
in the Americas. For example, he will discuss the
anticipated paradigm shifts that TAC sees in the market
over the next five years, including product evolutions.
He will also provide TAC’s view on the current fleet
“densification” trend, lightweight materials and product
evolutions. Significant product evolutions are occurring
or will occur in the near future in both inflight
entertainment and connectivity, and he will discuss
these changes and how TAC interprets the effects on the
passenger experience. Weissel will also address the
changing supply chain on aircraft interiors, including
new entrants, strategy changes from existing players,
recent M&As, and how they might affect the industry.

FINE FASTENERS
Clarendon Specialty Fasteners (CSF), a distributor of aerospace
fasteners and hardware for the aircraft interiors industry, is a new
local exhibitor, having opened a new facility in California to better
serve the North American aircraft interiors market and supply
chain. The facility stocks fully traceable fasteners certified under
the various aerospace standards (Mil-Spec, NAS, BAC, AN, etc) that
are used in the assembly of aircraft seats and cabin monuments,
and they are available for same-day shipping. CSF also offers
added-value services and in particular an innovative VMI/Kanban
system with RFID
Twin-Bin technology,
which is now available
for the US market and
will be displayed during
the expo.

Low VOC dress covers
Aerofoam has been
experimenting with dresscover
lamination processes for over
a decade. Wet-adhesive lamination
using sprayed glues was the norm early on
in the aviation industry, but Aerofoam quickly
realised that this was an ine cient and potentially
dangerous process because most liquid-based adhesives,
particularly those treated with FR, can release VOCs in
the cabin.
By contrast, Aerofoam’s dry lamination process minimises VOCs
in the cabin while still ensuring a quality product. The lamination
system uses state-of-the-art equipment with a dry web adhesive
in a process borrowed from the automotive industry.
