Sourcing design-forward materials that
meet industry compliance and passenger
expectations is a growing challenge. Thus
Kydex Thermoplastics (Sekisui SPI) will
be showcasing its innovative people and
processes, as well as its aviation portfolio
engineered to improve the passenger
experience. Visitors can get a feel for
Kydex Lumina and the fully compliant
Kydex FST, which have been finalists in
the Crystal Cabin Awards. The Crystal
Cabin Award-winning Infused Imaging
Technology will also be shown, which
makes cabin designs integral with Kydex
thermoplastic sheet, while

AkzoNobel Aerospace Coatings will showcase its 2020 Colour of the
Year, a colour choice based on expert analysis of social, economic
and design trends to understand what people want from paint colours.
Through its Colour Surfaces program, AkzoNobel is translating this
research into trend analysis for the cabin interiors market.
For over 15 years, the AkzoNobel design team has been researching
those trends that will influence the colour and material choices of the
future – gathering insights from all over the world as a starting point
for an inspiring yearly trend collection. The 2019 Colour Surfaces
collection goes beyond colour and focuses on all aspects of material.
Whether it’s a subtle sparkle or a special texture, the collection is
built to spark creativity and help designers find the perfect finish for
their project.
Visitors to the AkzoNobel stand can view the Colour of the Year
and other related colours in Intura, AkzoNobel’s new cabin interior
coating. The Intura product offer, in both liquid and film coatings,
will also be shown at the stand.
Space perception
Adhetec will showcase Adheskin, its premium decofoil
with colours and contrasts that it says can be used to
create ‘wow’ effects.
Adheskin allows quick and easy tailored cabin
interiors, and expo visitors can see how new designs
can be integrated easily into the cabin definition to
change the perception of space.
Did you know that some colours, round shapes or
vertical designs could increase the impression of
height? This would be a great passenger experience
enhancement in a narrow aircraft cabin. Another way
to create bigger room volumes is to decorate the
hacktrack interiors or enhance the separation
between business and economy class.
Visit booth 5D02 and play around with your design
and branding ideas with Adheskin. From 3D designs,
gloss and matt contrast, natural-look materials or
high-definition pictures and logos that meet your
graphic character, you will feel how Adheskin can
emphasise your brand and create a unique
experience on board.

The team will also be discussing
the imminent opening of the appLab
innovation centre, which will be filled
with resources focused on rapid
prototyping, exploration and product
ideation. The centre will enable visitors
to learn processes, like bonded buildup,
using new technology and materials.
The designLab is another facility where
art and science combine in a collaboration
space to develop a deeper understanding
of colour and design. Witness the latest
3D visualisation capabilities with Xrite’s
Virtual Light Booth, which creates
virtual designs representing the true
appearance of the final product,
including texture, gloss, transparency
and opacity.
