feedback,” says Reichman. “It’s a relatively
small amount of people so you can quite
easily get the right bell curve of reaction.”
LUXURY VERSUS WEIGHT
One of the biggest challenges for any luxury
transport interior is navigating the trade-off
between adding more luxurious materials and
technology while keeping weight down. Certainly,
Reichman cites it as one of the most challenging
aspects on this project. “The helicopter is
completely reliant on base weight, so whatever
solution we came up with, it couldn’t affect that,” he
says. “We couldn’t say, ‘We want to put cladding here’,
if it’s going to add 15kg (33 lb) to the helicopter. Then
obviously there was the rigorous safety testing and
finally, as with everything, time. Time is always our
biggest challenge; to create something meaningful and
to produce a ‘wow’ reaction when the doors open.”
The ACH130 Aston Martin
Edition launches with four
interior and exterior designs
and further options for

standards. Reichman
concedes that the process
of certification for the new
interior was at least as
stringent as automotive rules.
For items like the saddle leather,
his team leaned towards existing
Aston Martin suppliers that were able
to adapt to aviation needs or were already
familiar with them, rather than seeking
out completely new firms.
Reichman also found that
