Design concepts
The SkyRetreat cabin concept for the
ACJ220 and the Welcome Home concept
for the ACJ350 demonstrate Lufthansa
Technik’s design expertise. The company
says the aim with SkyRetreat was to
envision a totally new and unconventional
design approach. This called for a reduction
to the essential, and discreet integration
of the latest cabin technologies – from 4K
displays and smart touch surfaces to a
unique Observation Deck.
Lufthansa Technik has provided
services for private, government and
special-mission aircraft for more than 65
years. It says design is about much more
than just creating a stunning cabin interior,
but also about shaping a space that is all
about the customer.

MODULAR ANTENNAE
SD recently launched the SD Plane Simple antenna
series. Two variants are available, for Ku- or Ka-band
connectivity services. The new modular tail-mounted
antennae were designed to ensure owners can easily
exchange systems to stay compatible with future
technological developments. The antennae feature two
line-replaceable units; a network agnostic design; plus
commonality in terms of form, wiring and installation.
The antennae are part of the SD ecosystem
of hardware, software, infrastructure and data
synchronisation, all of which is supported by an awardwinning
customer care team. With the addition of the
Plane Simple portfolio, SD is a single-source provider
of end-to-end connectivity solutions for business jet
operators worldwide. The intention is to make secure,
flexible and reliable solutions available to a wider
segment of the business aviation sector.
BBJ designs
Multiple BBJ 787 and other custom
interior design concepts are ongoing
at Greenpoint Technologies. The
company is one of the world’s
leading BBJ 787 completion centres,
having contracted six of the type to
date. It delivered the world’s first
VVIP 787-8 interior completion,
an aircraft that debuted at EBACE
in May 2016. The second 787-8 it
delivered debuted at the MEBAA
Show in December 2018.
In addition, Greenpoint’s design
group continues to create custom
interior concepts for confidential
clients. The company’s latest BBJ
Max and BBJ 777X interior concepts
are inspired by Asian cultures and
achieve bright, spacious and
sophisticated cabin environments
with a focus on organic elements.
“Greenpoint Design collaborates
closely with each client to achieve
an interior reflecting their individual
design preferences, culture and
aircraft mission requirements,” says
Annika Wicklund, design director at
Greenpoint. “Recent themes include
expansive cabins with neutral colour
palettes, energising accent colours,
and contrasting layers and textures.
Greenpoint’s focus remains on the
client’s experience on board their
aircraft, and our team is
continually investigating new
ways to optimise comfort
and connectivity in flight.”
