jet,” says Soret. “Therefore, in selecting
materials, durability and longevity were
crucial to decisions. We had meetings
with client representatives, including
flight attendants – they made a lot of input.”
LAYOUT CHANGE
The aircraft can accommodate 16 passengers
in three separate cabin zones. There are three
private lavatories, including the en-suite attached to
the master bedroom. The bedroom was added during
the redesign. “There was a private lounge at the very
back that we took the seating out of and put in a bed,”
explains Soret. “That was probably the biggest
re-configuration. It was custom designed and certified
as part of the overall interior refurbishment.”
In addition to the new master bedroom, the Jet Edge
BBJ offers other sleeping facilities for passengers and
crew. “Each of the three zones in the main cabin can be
completely separated for privacy, while the 16 club seats
throughout the three zones all feature electric controls
that enable them to lie flat for optimal comfort,” says
Adler. “The third zone of the cabin also includes a divan
that allows for inclusive lounge seating and entertaining
for up to six individuals. The aircraft configuration allows
for open movement between the three zones in the main
cabin, in addition to a master bedroom suite, and is
equipped to hold up to 55 pieces of luggage.”
Aeria also updated soft goods in the enclosed
crew rest area, discretely integrated in the
forward section, where attendants and staff
can rest privately between services.
GALLEY UPGRADE
Equipped with dual galleys, the Jet Edge
BBJ features high-temperature convection
ovens and coffee makers, enabling full
meal services. Aeria removed the existing
ovens to replace them with the convection
ovens as part of the galley update.
“A fully stocked galley and custom
catering services are also available to ensure
travellers enjoy the finest cuisine,” says Adler.
“Throughout the duration of the flight, Jet Edge’s
world-class cabin attendants are dedicated to
providing an unparalleled end-to-end BBJ flight
experience. The cabin staff are trained to keep all food
and beverages at optimal temperatures. Ovens will be
used to reheat food and we will store all cold catering
items in specialised carts at optimal fridge temperatures.
There are also two coolers and a built-in ice bin to house
ice, chill drinks, and store additional catering.”
3D PRINTING
The seats were completely re-upholstered and restyled as
part of the refurbishment. “The previous seats kind of
overpowered the interior,” says Soret. “They had very
wide backs and the armrests were very big. We stripped
them down to the seat frames and completely redesigned
them. The backs were narrowed a little bit and we created
new armrests using 3D-printing technology.”
