the 6.1 surround
system, supplied
by Alto
There are also storage spaces in the sideledges,
complete with cup-holders and power ports, although
sliding lids hide these elements when not in use. The
sideledges also store tables. When the lid is opened,
the table will pop up by about 8-10in (20.3-25.4cm),
and the deployment is completed manually.
EASE OF USE
As on the G500 and G600, Gulfstream has focussed on
making the cabin intuitive to operate. Manual controls
for window shades and table and reading lights are placed
at passengers’ fingertips – so they don’t have to reach for
PCUs or handheld devices. At the same time, Gulfstream
mirrors these controls overhead so that flight attendants

Previous development programmes
have informed the noise mitigation
tactics employed on the G700. “One
of the things we learned on the G550
programme was that because the cabin
became so quiet, you could hear other
things that become annoying,” says
Naveed Aziz. “We had to work on that
for the G500 and G600, and we brought
those lessons to the G700. We’ve used
new materials tested in our acoustic
labs and worked with the suppliers
of all the black boxes – motors and
so on – to get those sounds down.”
