Trend Talk
“Like the design firms we work with, the marketing team
at Perrone monitors trends in the aviation, automotive,
fashion and home interior sectors closely for new
developments in colour and pattern styles. With Pantone’s
recent announcement for the 2020 colour of the year,
it appears Classic Blue may be making its way to many
design boards in the months ahead. The team at Perrone
will continue to inspire with unique style and colour
combinations throughout 2020, to continue to
help turn designers’ visions into reality.”

CUSTOM PROJECTS
Over the years, expectations have shifted
drastically in terms of quality, comfort
and especially design, leading companies
such as Perrone to transform their
development processes. Noting an uptick
in requests for unique colour-matching
and specialised finishing techniques,
Perrone has continued to expand on its
colour-matching capabilities. It has
employed a team of skilled colour
“Our customers trust our history and
our collaborative process.”
HOW THE PROCESS WORKS
Cognetti explains that the design process
often starts with just a photo, colour,
general concept or material swatch. “For
each new project, we form a specialised
work group consisting of a team member
from marketing, development, quality and
production,” he says. “This team works
diligently to develop the customer’s
concept to a full-scale idea for production,
bringing samples through various stages
of modifications and working very closely
with designers as they develop their
conceptual boards. As ideas are finetuned,
larger samples are developed for
mock-ups and eventually the project is
finalised and sent to production.”

“Our colour technicians are
craftspeople, bringing something
different to the table in terms of
knowledge,” says Perrone. “They look
at these projects from a scientific
perspective, often pushing the limits
of what we thought was possible. What
is even more exciting is seeing groups
of people working together internally
towards a common vision. We learn
so much from each other daily, and
that keeps us evolving.”
Having a process that is adaptable
and can flex in line with customers’
requirements is fundamental to Perrone’s
operation. “Over the years, we have
shifted our processes in a way that
allows us to connect with our customers
and form ongoing working relationships,
rather than just interact with them on
a sales level,” says Marc Cognetti, vice
president of marketing at Perrone.
