A LOOK AT THE POWERFUL MULTIFUNCTIONAL DISPLAYS AND UPDATED SOFTWARE
COMPONENTS THAT FORM A NEW ISOBUS TERMINAL SOLUTION
At Agritechnica 2019, CrossControl will be
showcasing its upgraded terminal platform
featuring powerful hardware with displays, ISObus
UT and TC software components and a state-of-theart
application for navigation and guidance.
The enhanced platform is geared to the requirements
of OEMs and system suppliers who want a platform
where they can create terminal solutions optimized
for di erent equipment with little engineering e ort.
ISObus UT and TC software, as well as the navigation
and guidance application, are integrated into the LinX
Software Suite, CrossControl’s open and modular
development tool chain based on Linux and Qt. The
LinX platform also o ers ready-made software
components for additional, non-ISObus, functionality
enabling OEMs and system suppliers to design
multifunctional ISObus terminal solutions.
New hardware
The 7 inch and 12 inch displays from CrossControl
come with high resolution, sunlight readable PCAP
touch screens. Powerful ARM-based CPUs support
hardware-accelerated graphics, enabling a premium
user experience. The 12-inch display has the power and
screen space to run several applications in a windowed
arrangement. As an example, it is possible to
simultaneously display a UT, guidance application, video
monitoring and machine instrumentation in one array.
The 7-inch display is designed to satisfy more
compact ISObus terminal needs, but retain
multifunctional capabilities. With the smaller screen,
the system can be set-up so that the user can navigate
between di erent applications with simple touch
controls or through input from a connected controller
– such as an armrest mounted joystick – rather than
display them on a single page.
The 7-inch display can – with its slim form factor –
be deployed in a twin terminal solution to create a
exible user interface without compromising on user
experience or task productivity. For some machines,
this can also create a more ergonomic solution with
one display integrated into the armrest controls and
one in the A-pillar, dash or roof.
Improved software
The platform also o ers improvements on the software
side. The latest version of the UT software provides a rich

ISObus experience, with the ability to customize the
look-and-feel of the UT to re ect both the OEMS brand
and graphical style and the interface that provides the
best user experience for that equipment. The latest
version also includes the ability to run two UT
applications concurrently.
The TC software provides the complete interface
needed for implement communication, data logging
and operator customization. The TC geo-referenced data
storage allows users to precisely map yield production
down to the smallest area, monitor crop patterns, adjust
to trends and x problems quickly and precisely. The
data can also be used for tracking application rates
for spray, fertilizer, and seed, or for soil sampling. The
TC also incorporates section control to ensure maximum
e ciency with expensive consumable products.
Fresh perks
The newest addition to the platform is a navigation and
guidance application. The software incorporates direct
GPS data, prebuilt maps from the farm or third party
guidance support into a 3D eld display complete with
implement graphics and control tools. Field data and
position are customizable by the user through the
intuitive touch interface, so the user can adjust imported
section control and operating guidance tools. The
mapping and autonomous drive system ensures the
vehicle stays on the optimal path.
By having the ISObus and navigation and guidance
software integrated in the LinX software platform, it is
easy to design and customize software systems for a
wide range of terminal applications, mixing these typical
implement process control functionalities with other
HMI functionality. Examples of such additional
functionality include instrumentation, video monitoring,
telematics, web browsers, e-manuals, VNS clients and
smart phone connectivity.
With the new ISObus terminal platform from
CrossControl, system suppliers and OEMS can e ciently
realize state-of-the-art terminal solutions for a wide
range of equipment. The rich support of the LinX
platform includes an ever-growing library of prebuilt
components that can be easily integrated into future
system updates. In today’s day and age, this is a key
competitive edge as farmers and farming contractors
look to improve the performance of their iron, whatever
the color. iVT
