Single-cylinder diesel goes digital
With the new E1 technology,
Hatz is now bringing
single-cylinder engines of
the B- and D-series into an interlinked
future. The E1 technology enables
engine specialists to bridge the gap,
for the first time, between previously
mechanically controlled engines and
the requirements of digital operation.
It is fully compliant to US EPA Tier
4 final as well as EU Stage V.
The most important components of
the E1 technology are the engine control
unit, sensors and fuel injector, with an
electromagnetic valve specially
developed by Hatz in cooperation with
Bosch. The control unit continuously
measures speed, oil pressure, oil and
engine temperature, operating time or
environmental data, such as air
pressure or air temperature to ensure
perfect operation. Besides, with the new
Hatz diagnostic tool HDS2 and via CAN
J1939, engine-relevant data can be read
out for engine analysis or maintenance.
The E1 technology provides
additional features for simplified
operation, including automatic start-up
protection to prevent starter
damage and idle connection
control for automatic
shutdown. This is a helpful
feature especially for idle
times to prevent inefficient
operation or unnecessarily
high wear.
The universal interface
allows continuous data
exchange with the control
unit. Various operating
modes can be set, such as
constant speed for certain
applications, eco mode for
emission-sensitive
environments or an
adjustment of the engine to
different fuel alternatives.
Additionally, the interface of the
E1 technology functions as a core
component for the integration and
networking of machines in digital
applications and the Internet of Things.
