48V FUTURE
 Kohler’s K-HEM platform can run
on mechanical energy or a combination of
 mechanical energy and electrical energy.
The company has developed two K-HEM
models comprising the K-HEM 1003, which
combines a 48-volt electric engine with a Kohler
KDW1003 diesel engine while the larger K-HEM
 2504, combines a Kohler KDI2504TCR diesel
engine with a 48-volt electric engine.
“While diesel engines will continue to deliver
 unmatched power and performance to
commercial users for many years to come, we
believe new options – like our K-HEM platform
 – will eventually coexist in the market to serve
the diverse needs of our end users,” said
Jennifer Rindt, director of marketing for
 Kohler diesel engines. iVT

  MILD HYBRID
Carraro unveiled a mild hybrid powertrain at
Agritechnica in November 2019. The 3E22 endothermic
 engine (3 cylinders, 2227 cm3, 55kW). Was developed
for specialised agricultural applications and is also
available in a version that can be used on worksite
machines and complies with the emission limits of
T3B, Stage V, China IV and Bharat IV.
Integration between the ICE and an electric motor
 – 48V from 20kW, the powertrain (transmission
combined with a front axle with IFAS suspensions)
means providing the same advantages as
a 100hp engine whilst optimising fuel
 consumption.
