 DRIVING CYCLES WILL HELP TO ENABLE MORE ACCURATE  
 AND EFFECTIVE VEHICLE DESIGN  
 Clean and efficient vehicles are  
 increasingly important in our  
 society. New emission laws make it  
 increasingly difficult to justify new  
 vehicles with conventional drive  
 systems. Electromobility is a key  
 technology to meet these challenges.  
 In order to develop new and efficient  
 drive components, precise  
 application areas and load  
 requirements of vehicles are  
 becoming increasingly important to  
 designers. For this purpose, driving  
 cycles can be used to evaluate  
 emissions. In the field of off-road  
 vehicles, driving profiles and areas  
 of application are very specialised,  
 and yet driving cycles are standard.  
 Driving cycles are used to  
 evaluate exhaust emissions from  
 vehicles and also for the approval of  
 new vehicle types. Based on load  
 requirements and load collectives  
 contained in driving cycles, vehicles  
 can be designed with regard to  
 energy efficiency but also  
 performance of the electrical and  
 mechanical powertrain. During
