Gregg Widdowson is the Customer
Experience Solution Sales Leader for
the UK and Ireland specialising in the area
of Digital Customer Engagement strategy and
solutions. In this role Gregg is responsible for providing insight into
key customer service trends and digital transformation for Avaya’s
strategic customers and business partners. Gregg has over 25
years of experience in the IT and Telecoms industry and has held
a number of positions within Avaya including UK Enterprise Sales
Engineering Manager, Contact Centre Consulting Systems Engineer
and EMEA Contact Centre Practice Leader for Avaya Professional
Services. He holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) from the
University of Bristol.

CBM: What is the future of the network?
GJ: BT is investing £6 billion over the next three years, to expand our
high-speed network footprint, which will ensure BT is building a network
that will position UK businesses at the forefront of the race to defi ne
the future. We provide a network built for business connectivity and
a network that can reroute traffi c in less than 3 milliseconds, already
providing bandwidth fl exibility between 10Gb and 100Gb.
CBM: How does 5G fi t in?
GJ: We’re in the process of evolving to a full fi bre and 5G future which
is both a challenge and an opportunity. Network leadership in 4G
will be the foundation for the success of 5G. We’re in the process of
building the UK’s fi rst 5G network, with 1,500 5G sites going live in
2019. These networks will be positioned in the busiest areas of our six
launch cities, such as; Hyde Park, Manchester Arena, Edinburgh train
station and Birmingham’s Bullring with the objective of transitioning
16 cities by end of 2019.
