UNLEASH FULL MACHINE MANEUVERABILITY WITH A
MultiAxis-Steer™ System
Independent control of both axles in a vehicle steering system can help optimize safety, performance and operator comfort.
A new integrated option on the market offers all-wheel MultiAxis-Steer™ control, providing OEMs an easy-to-install SIL2-compliant
solution. In addition, it’s designed and engineered with vehicle effi ciency, operator experience and safety in mind.
A FLEXIBLE SOLUTION IN STEERING
The new all-wheel electrohydraulic steering solution from Danfoss
features an EHi steering valve with PVED-CLS controller to monitor
and manage movements of the rear axle, independent of the
separate OSP, OSPE or EHi valves on the front axle. The integrated
system includes software and hardware and is compatible with all
current front axles.
After installing the system, OEMs program specifi c vehicle
parameters, such as the length between axles and wheels and
maximum angles of the front and rear axles. This customizes the
angle and speed parameters for the vehicle and makes the system
scalable across many vehicle types.
Based on the data from the virtual axis position and angle, the
operator can choose between several steering options, including twowheel
steering, four-wheel steering, crab steering, implement steering
or even fully customized steering modes — which can be changed
dynamically and seamlessly during operation.
IMPROVEMENTS TO SAFETY
The MultiAxis-Steer™ system function is included in the PVED CLS
controller — which has been AgPLd / SIL 2 certifi ed since 2015 —
A D V E R T O R I A L
which controls and monitors all movements of the rear axle. This
ensures the rear axle operates within the range specifi ed by the
OEM. If the vehicle speed increases higher than a setpoint, the axle
is realigned and locked. If the vehicle speed decreases below a
setpoint, the axle will be unlocked. As the vehicle’s speed increases,
the allowable angle for turning the rear wheel is reduced to help
ensure safe operation.
BENEFITS FOR OPERATOR COMFORT
An all-wheel MultiAxis-Steer™ system also offers operator experience
benefi ts. Improved control over handling and more steering modes
of operation help increase productivity and reduce operator fatigue.
ADDED VALUE WITH MULTIAXIS-STEER™
A MultiAxis-Steer™ system can reduce installation costs — while also
providing design flexibility and improved vehicle performance and
functionality. And because these integrated systems are simple to
implement, OEMs reduce costly software development time.
