Complete control
systems, not complex
A NEW MACHINE CONTROLLER PLATFORM FOR OEMs SIMPLIFIES SYSTEM
DESIGN AND SPEEDS UP TIME TO MARKET
way to get total vehicle control is not with more systems
but with a complete system. To help OEMs deliver truly
complete systems, Enovation Controls has developed a
new machine controller platform and programming
environment designed for OEMs to simplify the design
of a system and reduce time to market.
New controllers
Launching just in time for ConExpo 2020, the new MCx
series of mobile machine controllers from Enovation
Controls achieves total vehicle control with extreme
durability, precision hydraulic and equipment
performance. MCx controllers offer flexible I/O options
for a variety of equipment needs and applications. With
multiple CAN interfaces, extensive outputs and an
available high current output option, MCx series
controllers can handle any job on equipment of any size.
“We are very excited to announce the MCx machine
controllers because of all the new functionality it will let
us bring our customers in the industrial vehicle market,”
says Josh Dresher, manager of OEM sales at Enovation
Controls. “Combining the MCx machine controller with a
PowerView display allows industrial vehicle OEMs to
build a truly complete system that provides the right
amount of feedback and control so operators can do
their best work.”
Capabilities
MCx series controllers are capable of delivering precise,
proportional control with feedback on several outputs
and extended low voltage operation with short circuit
and overload protection. The option for high-current
output on multiple channels allows simultaneous
control of solenoid valves, lights, motors and other high
demand loads not typically managed on a single
controller, saving manufacturers the cost of extra
controllers and simplifying the system design.
Like the rest of the company’s display and control
hardware, MCx is ready for the harshest working
environments. Each controller is housed in a cast
aluminium case with a fully-sealed IP69K protected
enclosure. MCx controllers are soft-gel potted for shock
and vibration resistance and built to work in
extreme temperatures (-40C to +105C) using
100 percent solid-state components.

Flexible programming options
MCx controllers are also a gamechanger for the
industrial vehicle market because of the flexibility
in how developers can programme them. MCx
controllers support programming via a robust C-API,
CoDeSys or the new Enovation Controls-developed ACE
Expert System.
Many of the graphical programming environments
used for machine controller programming today are
highly capable and flexible. Still, they require highly
skilled software developers to create high-quality,
full-featured applications. But these same programming
environments can also have a longer development time
than coding in C for a full-featured application. Where
Enovation Controls’s ACE Expert System differs is that it
relies upon application knowledge instead of
programming knowledge to create useful
and intuitive controls.
Faster development
ACE Expert System lets an equipment expert rapidly
develop a project using a built-in library of components
and functions by dragging-and-dropping blocks and
features together. What can take hours or days to
implement if using other, less-advanced platforms is
possible in just minutes with ACE. When all the blocks
are in place, the software does the heavy lifting and
writes code ready to load onto the vehicle controller.
ACE’s innovative auto-coding environment also
makes it easy to save and export work to other
development environments for fine-tuning and
version control, or to import code written on other
platforms to the ACE project.
“A lot of the software out there promises to be easy
but can still be too challenging for the end-user to have
success,” says Michael Sewick, product solutions
manager at Enovation Controls. “The ACE Expert System
is easy to learn and will simplify and speed up your
development. A machine expert can create a working
application in just a few minutes without writing
a single line of code.”
Enovation Controls will be showcasing the MCx
series of rugged machine controllers in their booth at
ConExpo, with demos of the ACE Expert System software
every day of the show. iVT
