supplier interview: dewesoft
“Being able to record, store and analyze gigabytes
of data without any performance issues in real
time gives us a significant advantage”
CAN YOU DESCRIBE GENERALLY
YOUR APPROACH TO WORKING
WITH CLIENTS?
We take a solution based, customer-centric
approach to every opportunity no matter
the application. With this in mind, we are
able to solely focus on the customer’s
unique requirements and provide the best
positioned hardware and software
recommendations. We have an incredibly
experienced and talented team of over 250
professionals at DEWESoft available
around the world in 15 different countries.
HOW LONG DOES DEWESOFT
HARDWARE LAST?
For the most part, a DAQ environment is
under constant flux and change. But
typically, it has a shelf life of 5-10 years.
Then, there is a dramatic change in the
way data is pushed and pulled from these
systems, which necessitates the change out
of our hardware. The signal interfaces
remain relatively consistent. There is an
enormous cost for end-users when they
have to change out signal characterization.
WHY DO ENGINEERS CHOOSE
DEWESOFT PRODUCTS?
Our systems are so distributable and
connected, we provide the best tools for
measurement professionals to do their jobs.
There are over 20 different hardware tools
in our portfolio of products. We are also
embedded in so much instrumentation and
so many laboratories around the world, it’s
that broad base of hardware plus software
connectivity that makes the difference for
Dewesoft.
finalize the qualification of the P120C solid
booster before the first flight of Vega-C
and Ariane 6 in 2020. We will be
supporting those missions with some of
the most advanced testing hardware in the
world when they happen.
HOW LONG DO THESE DIFFICULT
PROJECTS TAKE?
In both of those cases we worked with the
client for several years before the actual
testing. With the booster rocket tests for
example, it started with a full system
evaluation, then long technical
demonstration processes to show that the
performance on the launches would match
and exceed the client’s expectations. One
static fire test is over €50 million, so you
have to get the data.
HOW DO THESE TYPES OF
PROGRAMS BENEFIT OTHER
DEWESOFT USERS?
We are constantly tweaking the systems in
partnership with users to stay ahead of the
customer’s requirements and that is
reflected in the firmware updates.
Because there are so many demanding
applications that we support around the
world, this creates a constant evolution of
firmware updates. These updates provide
additional capabilities and benefits that
our hardware don’t yet service and satisfy.
This constant updating process is of
tremendous value, not just to the
customer’s with those specific demands,
but also for all the customers around the
world who update. It’s a seamless and
symbiotic relationship.

IS THERE ANY OTHER HIGH PROFILE
PROJECTS YOU CAN TALK ABOUT?
Another one of our recent successes was to
provide the test bench for the testing of the
large launcher, solid propellant boosters for
the European Vega-C and Ariane 6
launchers by the CNES National French
Space Agency. Those tests, the second
firing of the P120C solid rocket motor, took
place at the European Spaceport in French
Guiana, South America in January 2019.
The static hot firing test was a big
success and provided one more important
step in the joint European space program.
Our data acquisition hardware played a
key part in the testing. Dewesoft and
Syclone by Clemessy combined to provide
the best of both worlds: high-end DAQ
capacity and control front-ends with
efficient and full performance controlcommand
software solutions.
HOW DO THESE DEMANDING
APPLICATIONS PUSH THE
HARDWARE’S DEVELOPMENT?
When such a high level of quality is
required, we have to develop and improve
our products’ robustness for large test
benches which feature hundreds of
channels. Our hardware is now an
integrated part of the European Solid
Booster Test Bench (BEAP) and the French
space agency CNES (National Centre for
Space Studies) in equipping the Ariane 6
launch pad.
