RECA RO
Last but not least, the flip cushion
helps to support the lower lumbar area
in a cradle or sleeping position.
On top of that, the modular
construction of the seat combines a wide
range of customisation options with a
high degree of comfort while maintaining
best-in-class weight.
Recaro can also call itself a first mover
when it comes to other elements aimed
at increasing passenger comfort. For
example, the high literature pocket, a
design which significantly increases
passenger living space, was first developed
and patented by Recaro. Other Recaro
innovations include the unique six-way
headrest with neck support, and a table
with an integrated tablet holder that
enables passengers to use their own
devices in comfort.
ULTIMATE EFFICIENCY IN
ECONOMY CLASS
In designing the SL3710 economy class
seat, Recaro again aimed for an unrivalled
combination of comfort, quality and
lightweight design, with a low total
cost of ownership. Weighing in at 8kg,
this short-haul economy class seat sets
a new benchmark for light weight.
Through innovative changes to the
seat cushion, the seat pan and the seat
structure itself, Recaro has achieved major
weight reductions, while its slim backrest
design provides more living space for
each passenger.

Designed with a clear focus on
economic and ecological efficiency, the
SL3710 also reflects Recaro’s dedication
to create premium quality products that
are more sustainable. As demand for air
travel continues to grow, the aviation
industry must invest in developing seats
that are lighter and have longer lifecycles.
The SL3710 is 1.5kg lighter than its
predecessor, and allows for more seats to
be fitted in an aircraft, while still offering
passengers an ergonomically optimised
seat with ample living space. And of
course, reductions in cabin weight help
save fuel.
Dubbed the ‘efficiency performer’,
the SL3710 model also keeps costs low
over the entire lifecycle of the seat, hence
contributing to a lower total cost of
ownership. This seat design is optimised
for a predefined recline, which reduces
maintenance costs by 50%, while its spare
parts commonality with the BL3710 keeps
maintenance costs at a minimum. The
seat also shares a common design

RED DOT DESIGN AWARD
WINNER
The BL3710 seat won a prestigious Red
Dot Award for outstanding product design
earlier this year. The seat was created
to set new standards in economy class,
and many years of experience with other
best-selling seats, as well as the latest
research results from Recaro’s in-house
ergonomics team, went into the design
of this product.
The BL3710 offers passengers a
comfortable sitting position and inflight
experience. The six-way adjustable
headrest with integrated neck support is
one of the many innovations that enhance
passenger comfort. Another practical
comfort feature is that the tray table
can be unfolded, even when the tablet
holder is in use.
Recaro is extremely proud to have
won a Red Dot Design Award. The award
recognises the company’s product strategy
of focusing on comfort, lightweight design
and quality, and also provides an
outstanding endorsement to Recaro’s
philosophy of driving comfort in the sky.
