 Monitors are integrated throughout the
interior and as well as the IFE, can
be used to display views from
 external HD cameras.
 This modern BBJ 787-8 concept
 was created by Greenpoint
Design for a client from the
Middle East who came to the company
 in mid-2018 seeking a replacement
aircraft. The interior took a month to
design and render into a photorealistic
concept, and was named Aniq, which
 means ‘elegance’ in Arabic.
 “The team drew inspiration from
 Islamic art and incorporated modern
 arabesque details,” says Annika Wicklund,
 design director at Greenpoint.
 Delicate florals juxtapose with simple
 geometric patterns. Natural woods
 complement the embossed textures,
 soft materials and olive accents.
 Social aspects have been designed
with care. A modern majlis dominates
the open main lounge, while the guest
 suite features oversized wardrobes with
wood accents, a floral wall covering,
 hand-painted wall panels, a Belgian
white linen divan and a flat monitor.
However, the master suite is the jewel
in the crown, featuring a king-size bed
framed by a large headboard, and linear
 integrated sconce lighting. The master
lavatory features a rain shower with
 adjustable shower heads, storage with
 embossed hand-tipped leather drawers,
towel warmers and a double vanity with
 embedded monitors.
Aniq remains at the concept phase –
 no technical specification has been
 developed. However, Wicklund says
 Greenpoint is currently engineering
solutions for multiple airframes that will
 “redefine customer expectations”.
 Notable technologies envisaged for
 this interior include adjustable lighting,
quiet cabin solutions and “advanced IFEC
and electrical systems”. For example, the
layered ceiling features LED lighting with
 preset scenes including transitions to
sunrise or sunset and a starry sky.
Wicklund says the design is morphing
into proposals for future BBJ 787
 completions, furthering the company’s
 research and development. “As an
 experienced BBJ 787 completion centre,
 Greenpoint understands this airframe,”
she adds. “Greenpoint’s third BBJ 787-8
will be delivered this summer, after the
induction of our first BBJ 787-9.” play it cool
