During 2018 Simon published a book on
security, ‘Speaking up on Telephony Risks’,
which gained many requests for copies and
considerable feedback. Ross McKillop, presented
Simwood’s further developments in fraud and
security in May at SOCEX (Serious & Organised
Crime Exchange) to senior law enforcement
professionals on behalf of ITSPA. “Privacy is a
real issue that we care about and goes hand
in hand with things that we do provide such
as encrypted SIP and, our expanding work in
intelligence,” explained Simon.
It was a busy year. At Kamailio World,
Simon spoke on ‘The Auto-Pilot Pattern’, a
fundamental philosophy in how Simwood are
now architecting their application stack. Then
Simwood were a Platinum Sponsor and Speaker
at the inaugural CommCon. And, in August,
Simwood launched the ‘Open Porting Initiative’,
an overt porting policy and service delivery,
based upon honesty and transparency, ethics
that Simwood is not willing to compromise upon.
Growth in the USA continues and customers
are valuing that, whether in any of the USA
or UK PoPs, Simwood’s global platform
performs the same everywhere, only local. An
Interconnected VoIP carrier licence is about to
be added to the Competitive Local Exchange
Carrier (CLEC) and USA numbering is available.
Simwood continues to develop connectivity
and IP transit services, bringing more and
more customers on-net. This not only ensures
performance of voice, but also improves it to
end users through Simwood’s massive peering
- Simwood have over 700 connected peer
networks, 90%+ of IP traffic over bilaterals, as
well as multiple high capacity interconnects
with tier 1s for the rest.
In pursuit of fairness and efficiency in the
marketplace, Simwood also went public with
their BTZero initiative: to eliminate BT from
their routing wherever possible, by growing
bilaterals with peers. This improves quality
for all and the Company is progressing this as
rapidly as possible.
“We are very excited about both VoxAP,
SD-WAN and other current new developments.
They all offer huge opportunities for our
customers, to enter new markets and provide
their value-added services to a broader
audience. Our mission has always been, to
continually enable our customers to use our
platform to build and deploy awesome services
