Geven sets up leasing services
Modern master
Aviointeriors’ new Michelangelo economy class seating
family for the medium- and long-haul narrow-body
market is a slim and lightweight design with a focus on
reliability, comfort and integrated technology.
The component count has been minimised to reduce
weight, as well as to reduce maintenance costs and spare
parts requirements. Optional items such as USB/AC ports
can be installed on the rear backrest or below the
seat pan.
A long-range version of Michelangelo has also been
developed, featuring a 13.3in IFE monitor, additional
stowage spaces, and restyled bumpers and armrests.
A LIGHTER WAY TO FLY
The Layer design studio in London created
Move as a prototype airline seat for
Airbus. The digitally knitted seat cover
uses a smart textile in combination with
sensors to enable passengers to monitor
and control various factors – including
seat tension, temperature, pressure and
movement via the Move app. Throughout
the journey, Move analyses data and
automatically adjusts to the passenger
to maintain optimal ergonomic comfort.
SADDLE UP
Skyrider 2.0 is Aviointeriors’ saddle-
style seat that is often talked about
and which garners a lot of mainstream
media coverage. This innovative seat
can be installed at a 23in pitch and is
engineered with a minimal number of
components, allowing for minimum
maintenance costs and a weight
claimed to be half that of most standard
economy class seats currently available
in the market.
Geven and Velantis Seat Financing
Solutions have entered into an
agreement to offer passenger
seat leasing services to airlines,
operators and aircraft lessors as
a new way to provide a new way
to financially support the acquisition
of new passenger seats.
According to the companies,
the leasing option for acquiring
new passenger seats has been an
idea mooted in the cabin interiors
industry for several years, but until
now there have been no solutions
available on the market which offer
leasing directly from the seat vendor
to the seat end user.
However, as Rodolfo Baldascino,
marketing and sales manager
at Geven explains, some airlines
need to modernise their cabins
to maintain competitiveness and
consistency with their business
model, but cannot always afford
to implement seat replacement
projects.
Geven will offer leasing as an
additional payment/financial
option for seat acquisition as part
of its commercial proposal for both
line-fit and retrofit aircraft seat
sales. During negotiations with
Geven, those customers interested
in learning more about seat leasing
options will liaise with Velantis
experts who, on the basis of the
terms offered by Geven and pending
a risk/credit assessment, will
calculate a specific leasing proposal
for them, highlighting leasing
terms, duration and monthly
rates to be paid.
GEVEN SECURES B787 STATUS
Geven has been approved as a ‘Boeing Offerable Seat Supplier’ for
line-fit installation of economy class seats on the B787 Dreamliner.
This milestone is the result of a long Boeing evaluation and qualification
process, involving all Geven departments, especially focused on
engineering and manufacturing capabilities.
