STARTING AN AIRLINE IS A MAJOR UNDERTAKING.
NAVDIP SINGH JUDGE, CEO AND FOUNDER OF
STARTUP LCC, FLYPOP, SHARES 10 THOUGHTS
AND INSIGHTS ABOUT ENTERING THE AIRLINE
WORLD, AND THE PASSENGER EXPERIENCE
Words by Adam Gavine
Startup airline, Flypop, believes it has discovered a
lucrative niche as a long-haul LCC flying non-stop from
London Stansted to India’s second cities. Today, UK
passengers wanting to fly to the airline’s planned first
destinations of Amritsar and Ahmedabad face a journey
of 17-18 hours, and Flypop aims to halve that time and
cut the cost (from £350 return), attracting the nearly three
million UK nationals from the Indian diaspora, as well as
business and leisure travellers. Flypop is still securing
funding to begin operations and hopes to launch
the first flight to Amritsar in June 2020.

THE FLYPOP
INFLIGHT EXPERIENCE
Plans for the airline’s wet-leased A330
aircraft include more than 400 standard
economy seats at a 31in pitch with USB
charging, plus 21 extra legroom seats for an
additional fare. The unbundled fare makes
everything except a seat and carry-on bag
an extra, from food and hold baggage, to
streaming IFE and connectivity.
