LOW COST,
HIGH SPIRITS
“Despite being an LCC that takes its lead from
Ryanair, we will have great hospitality: British-
Asian hospitality,” jokes Judge. “Because we
are hosting customers in the plane for eight
hours, we can’t afford to be rude to them. Our
cabin crew will be made up of and recruited
from relevant South Asian communities, with
additional senior staff recruited in the UK.

INDIAN CUISINE
“We will offer great value authentic food. Instead of
a sandwich and an orange juice, customers can have
proper Indian food, including Asian biryanis
and samosas,” says Judge.
“Just as celebrity chefs have worked with other
airlines on bespoke menus, we are looking to do the
same with Flypop. We think it’s really important that
our customers have a wide selection of authentic
vegetarian and non-vegetarian Indian meals to
choose from so they can really enjoy their
journey with us. We believe that low cost
doesn’t mean low standards, but
rather good value.”
A GROWING SOUTH
ASIAN MARKET
“The South Asia market is huge and growing rapidly.
Our business model doesn’t take into account people
buying tickets from the east flying west, and there
are 600 million middle-class people in South Asia
who aspire to visit the west. That’s bigger than the
population of all of Europe or North America, and
Flypop hopes to inspire this segment to fly to Europe.
Also, although we are focused on the VFR (visiting
friends and relatives) market, the icing on
the cake is the tourism business,
which is a huge opportunity.”

FEED AGREEMENTS
“Feed agreements are crucial to our success. Feed
agreements with short-haul LCCs in the UK and India
make Flypop more accessible from Europe and onto
South East Asia. We already have a verbal agreement
with an LCC based at Stansted and with an LCC in
India. We’re going to start with mature aircraft,
including A330-300s. We’re using mature aircraft so
we can pass the lower costs on to customers.”
Flypop routes will be between six and 10 hours
so it won’t take on the huge LCCs in Europe,
and the aircraft will return back to
base every day for maintenance.
