Introducing DC
charging for the home
To support the changing needs of our electric future, an 11kW DC charger offers high
efficiency, optimal functionality and design, without the need for an on-board charger
The requirements of our
electric future are changing.
According to the International
Energy Agency (IEA), the average
electric vehicle battery capacity has
increased from 20-30kWh in 2012
to 70-80kWh in 2018. In parallel, the
public DC charging network is also
rapidly growing, and today’s battery
capacities are capable of delivering
an average of 354km (220 miles) on
a full charge. With the average single
day commute around 64km (40
miles) in distance, it is uncommon
for BEVs to run the battery flat. As
a result, bulky onboard chargers are
becoming redundant as they no
longer serve as the fail-safe device
they once did. This is therefore
beneficial to car manufacturers as
manufacturing and material costs
are reduced thanks to a more
simplified vehicle architecture.
Rectifier Technologies, which
specializes in developing and
manufacturing high e iciency power
conversion products, has leveraged
its expertise to deliver a new 11kW
DC charger. The innovative product
has been engineered to lead the
transformation the electric vehicle
market is experiencing.
Rectifier Technologies’ 11kW DC
charger provides a cost-e ective DC
charging option for the home that is
almost 60% faster than the
commonly used 7kW AC charger.
Form and function are also
balanced with premium design
aesthetics and ease of use. With
a slimline design the charger is ideal
for low-profile wall mounts or
narrow spaces, and it o ers a simple
installation process. The charger is
CCS compliant and can be
integrated with central management
software via OCPP and controlled
via an app that is available for iOS
or Android. It incorporates high
e iciency, optimal functionality and
aesthetic design, all without the
need for an onboard charger.
As part of its 2020 roadmap,
Rectifier Technologies will also be
adding Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G)
capability to the 11KW DC Charger
to address the challenges of grid
management and demand arising
from the growing number of EVs
in the market.
As EV battery capacity has
increased by more than 300%, the
