According to a European
Commission report, heavyduty
vehicles are responsible for
carrying 75% of all land-based
freight. In doing so, they are liable
for around a quarter of CO
emissions from road transport in the
EU and account for around 5% of
Europe’s greenhouse gas emissions.
These figures represent why the
automotive market is evolving
towards electric vehicles. Delivering
high voltage solutions to EV
customers worldwide,
Huber+Suhner has many years of
experience in addressing the
challenges of the EV market and
has recently launched a new cable
system called the Radox EV-C.
Depending on their purpose,
heavy-duty vehicles such as trucks,
construction and special vehicles
require a full range of mechanical
and electrical solutions to transmit
and distribute power. Therefore, any
high voltage connection must be
safe and reliable, as well as suitable
for the most demanding
applications, including
high temperatures,
current peaks and
extreme loads.
Historically, vehicle
manufacturers and their suppliers
have sourced cables, connectors
and high voltage distribution units
separately from di erent suppliers
and then assembled them together,
which leads to further challenges
such as compatibility.
Leveraging its experience,
Huber+Suhner is now
revolutionizing this process by
o ering an end-to-end
interconnected system including
high voltage cables, its High Voltage
Distribution Unit (HVDU) and the
latest innovation, Radox EV-C.
Designed to provide the EV
industry with a superior solution, the
Radox EV-C is an innovative cable
system that provides hybrid and
electric vehicles with a safe and
reliable connection for even the
most challenging applications.
Created with customers’ priorities
in mind, the Radox EV-C is proven
to operate under severe conditions
and provides a consistent level of
performance over the lifespan of the
vehicle. It has been validated both
internally and externally
according to automotive high
voltage standards.
The solution utilizes
proven Radox
technology from Huber+Suhner,
which uses an electron beam
crosslinking process for the cables.
This process achieves notable
improvements in the thermal,
mechanical and chemical properties
of the cable insulation. Merging this
cable technology with the new EV-C
gland provides a state-of-the-art
connectivity solution for demanding
heavy duty applications.
O ered in seven sizes, ranging
from 16mm to 120mm in five main
variants, the solution provides wide
configuration flexibility for
customers’ specific needs.
With the number of electric
vehicles on the road increasing, as
a result of both regulatory actions
and customer preference for
sustainable options, the availability
of innovative solutions such as the
Huber+Suhner Radox EV-C helps
ensure safe and reliable operation
now and in the future.
An innovative cable system offers electric vehicles with
a safe and reliable connection for challenging applications
High voltage connections must be safe, reliable, and rugged
