Modular EV battery pack test laboratory
Proventia offers modular EV
battery pack test laboratories
with climatic features optimized
for customer`s technical
requirements and preferences.
Battery cyclers, test
equipment and automation
systems can be selected
from the widest range of key
component suppliers. Different
designs and layouts provide
fl exibility for building up the
test capacity almost anywhere,
both indoors and outdoors. Test
facility can be easily expanded
in phases.
Proventia’s environmental
EV battery test chamber is one
of the largest on the market,
accommodating full-size battery
packs and offering enough
space to run tests with several
packs simultaneously. Modular
test laboratories are easy to
transport and quick to deploy,
and they integrate with the
existing facility arrangement.
As a free system integrator,
Proventia works directly with
the key component industry,

Testing solutions for the electrical test center
Critt M2A’s electrical department
is equipped with 96 test channels
for battery cells and fi ve battery
module tests systems in climatic
environment to characterize
electrical and thermal behavior
of batteries used in automotive,
motorsport, railway and aeronautic
industries. Critt M2A can characterize
the complete EV battery pack thanks
to six climatic test benches from 14
to 19m³ and up to 750kW. These
solutions are equipped with water
and air cooling systems and all
appropriated safety systems in case
of battery failure.
Critt M2A is also equipped with
a four-wheel drive test bench to
perform tests on electric, hybrid
or ICE vehicles/powertrains. This
enables the testing and validation of
partial or entire hybrid powertrains.
All electrical and mechanical
components can be tested in a
realistic emulated environment
in an early development phase.
CrittM2A has recently been
equipped with battery simulators
(AVL E-storage) to perform battery
characterization tests (32kW /
0-60V / ± 600A). This equipment
offers measurement and control
accuracy with maximum dynamic
performance, to fulfi ll the specifi c
needs of customers.
It can use both emulator modes to
simulate the battery of a consumer,
and tester battery to characterize its
performance. It can also be used on
engine test benches to perform tests
on hybrid engines.
With these e-storages, Critt M2A
completes its range of turbocharger
tests including electric compressor,
recovery system and turbo
compounds (including turbo and
electric engine).

Big on power battery packs and modules
In mid-2019, BorgWarner formed a joint
venture with Romeo Power Technology,
a technology-leading supplier of battery
packs and modules. This strategic step
gives BorgWarner the ability to provide
its customers with the relevant products,
and this in-turn enables the company to
manage the overall effi ciency of the entire
electric vehicle propulsion system – from
charging, to moving the wheels.
The addition of battery packs and
modules as the last puzzle piece
energizing BorgWarner’s existing product
portfolio for hybrid and electric vehicles,
which features power electronics, onboard
battery chargers, eAxle iDMs, electric
motors, high-voltage battery heaters and
much more besides.
BorgWarner’s compact battery packs
and modules include intelligent battery
management systems with proprietary
algorithms and industry-leading energy
densities for enhanced performance
and cycle life. They also feature
proprietary thermal engineering
for active and passive cooling.
The scalable design of the
technology allows faster time-tomarket
to-
for customers with tailormade
modules.
The battery module is
comparatively light at 48kg,
has a capacity of 10kW hours
and is available as both a 48V
and a high-voltage version.
According to BorgWarner’s
specifi cations, the battery pack
survives over 2,000 charging
cycles and 10 years of use.
With this innovative solution, the
company provides its customers
not only with the longest possible
pure electric driving range but also with
extraordinarily fast charging times.
combinations of test equipment
and automation systems.
Proventia is a turnkey
supplier, who provides CE
marked and complete EV
battery pack test laboratories
that comply with the EU
Machinery Directive and health
and safety regulations. All the
equipment, every detail and
foreseeable prepararations for
future upgrades are brought into
the modular design, completed
at the factory and tested to
ensure that the assembly on site
is as quick as possible.
