Vehicle control unit and charge management in a single controller
Vehicle control units (VCU) from Pi
Innovo, the OpenECU M560 and M580
are designed to eliminate the need for
using a separate electric vehicle charge
controller (EVCC) and a separate VCU in
electric vehicles.
OpenECU M560 and M580 offer
hardware and software capabilities
to integrate charge management and
supervisory control in a single electronic
control unit (ECU).
OpenECU M560 and M580 are based
on the proven OpenECU Functional
Safety (OpenECU-FS) platform,
through the combination of hardware,
platform software, and Simulink-based
application software. Both products
have Powerline Communication (PLC)
transceivers providing capability for AC
charging and DC fast charging.
The combined charging system
(CCS) software package enables charge
management supporting SAE J1772 and

DC MEMS for any situation
PCB Piezotronics has launched
a new family of DC MEMS F series
accelerometers for low-frequency
measurements down to 0Hz (static
or DC acceleration).
This new variable capacitive,
gas damped MEMS family includes
single-axis and triaxial DC singleended
accelerometers, as well
as single-axis DC differential
accelerometers. These sensors are
designed for uniform, repeatable
performance and offer high overload
protection. The new series uses
the latest commercially available
MEMS technology and comes in six
models with measurement ranges
of ±2, 10, 30, 50, 100 and 200g.
They are PCB’s most refi ned DC
accelerometers to date, using the
latest MEMS technology with broad
frequency range, low noise, low
offset voltage, excellent broadband
resolution and true-differential
output. The entire family exhibits
a high overload shock capability
(±3,000 or 5,000g) along with a
wide operating temperature range of
-54°C to 121°C (-65°F to 250°F).
DIN 70121 standards. Functionalities
include, but are not limited to, input
signal processing, control pilot signaling,
and sequence controller.
The electric vehicle supervisory
control strategy package allows
customers to accelerate the
development of control systems for
electric vehicle control. The OpenECU
platform allows customers to rapidly
deploy supervisory control and CCS
controls from prototyping to production.
By using the OpenECU controllers
M560 or M580 users can integrate
and consolidate CCS with supervisory
control realizing signifi cant cost and
space savings for electric or hybrid
vehicle programs.
Electrically, these new units offer
a single-ended or differential output
signal with power, signal and ground
leads for each channel. Supply
voltage regulation permits operation
from +5V DC to +32V DC, enabling
their use with many data acquisition
systems, and the low-noise,
low-impedance output
signal may
be transmitted over
long cable lengths
without degradation.
These DC response
accelerometers were
specifi cally designed
to help automotive
test engineers during
low-frequency vibration
testing. They are well suited
for applications such as ride
and handling assessments,
drive-ability and shift quality work,
suspension development, NVH
testing, road load data acquisition,
brake deceleration compliance
certifi cation, durability testing of
vehicle radiators and air coolers,
roll stiffness/static rollover
threshold evaluations, vehicle
and component test chamber
instrumentation, and multiaxis
motion testing
platforms.
