TECH INSIDER | LEXUS LF-30 
 Lexus has been at the forefront of  
 electrification since 2005 when it  
 introduced a hybrid powertrain to its  
 400h SUV. It has, however, taken until  
 2019, for the company to finally announce  
 plans for a fully-electric model, the UX300e,  
 as part of its Lexus Electrified global strategy.  
 Yet, before this announcement, it revealed its  
 vision of the fully electric future when it took  
 the wraps off a concept vehicle, the LF-30,  
 featuring what possibilities of technology,  
 performance and design can bring to its nextgeneration  
 of vehicles.  
 At 5,090mm long, 1,995mm wide and  
 1,600mm high the sci-fi-looking LF-30’s  
 proportions are akin to the current Lexus LS  
 limousine but the concept’s project leader  
 and Toyota Lexus ED2 Europe studio director,  
 Ian Cartabiano, explains how with its longer  
 3,200mm wheelbase, the LF-30 provides  
 similar levels of cabin space to the bigger  
 LM, the luxury-appointed Lexus based on the  
 Toyota Alphard minivan sold in China.  
 With its dramatically LED-lit, but closed-off  
 interpretation of the brand’s existing ‘spindleshaped’ 
  grille, wedge-shaped proportions and  
 dramatic surfacing – concave and curvy upfront
