Sensor solutions for hydraulic cylinders
ASM Sensors’ new sensor solution for
hydraulic cylinders significantly simplifies
installation and maintenance. Posichron
EasyMount is a non-contact and wear-free linear
position sensor system with measurement ranges
from 100mm up to 5,750mm.
Due to a new, strong magnet fixed inside the
cylinder, the sensors can be mounted on the outside
of the hydraulic cylinder instead of inside the cylinder
as usual. This means no deep hole drilling is
necessary. With this new design, hydraulic cylinders

can now be equipped with displacement sensors
much more cost-effectively.
Small piston diameters with insufficient installation
space can be equipped with sensors for the first time.
In case of maintenance or repair, the sensor is easily
accessible from the outside.
Redundant sensor configurations are an option
up to fourfold. Installation in synchronous cylinders
is possible and various designs are available to fit
different installation conditions including rod, profile,
ultra-flat profile designs. The sensors reach a linearity
of up to 0.02% of the measurement length and
the degree of protection is up to IP68 and IP69.
Posichron EasyMount sensors are suited for many
hydraulic cylinder applications. High robustness and
shock resistance make them ideal for use under harsh
environmental conditions such as industrial vehicles
or mobile machines.

Smart displays meet new regulations
The German company Bauser has manufactured standard and custom
hardware and software solutions for displays and other visualization
products for more than 60 years, with applications including battery and
time controllers for the off-highway market.
Its products are currently in use in more than 50 countries worldwide. Bauser
boasts clients that include many of Europe’s leading construction and compaction
machinery OEMs with whom it has had business relationships for many decades.
Bauser’s TFT color displays for utility vehicle cockpits, stationary and industrial
equipment are innovative in terms of functionality and user-orientation, high quality
and good value for money. The project reaction speed from prototype to series
production is a notable attribute and enables the off-highway vehicle OEMs working
to short lead time to be first to market.
Recent developments have focused on displays for diesel-powered machinery
that have to meet Stage V emission regulations, which work within a CANbus data
network communicating via standardized CANopen or J1939 protocols. Data
messages can be received from an engine or hydraulic ECU and can indicate
warnings through LED lamps or error codes on the display. Emission control
is also indicated.
