USING THE CORRECT QUICK HYDRAULIC COUPLINGS IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN
A SAFE, STREAMLINED OPERATION AND ONE THAT IS BURDENSOME
The use of quick couplings is now commonplace
and even essential in many sectors, including the
off-highway industry and in all manner of fluid power
 hydraulic systems.
The applications that exploit the benefits of quick
couplings are in constant expansion in the sector of
 agricultural mechanics, reflecting the continuous
research and development work carried out by
manufacturers and component suppliers to offer
the market and users new technologies that make
 operations easier in the field.
Equipment and accessories for tractors are typically
associated with the rear of the machine. Quick couplings
for conveying hydraulic fluids that are applied at the front
of the tractor are also important.
Of course, an agricultural tractor is mainly used with
equipment connected at the back and therefore behind
the operator, because farming involves many operations
with machinery that is towed, such as ploughing,
 sowing and transporting.
For certain uses, however, the equipment must be
mounted on the front of the tractor and connected to
the hydraulic system. This equipment can be, for example,
front loaders for the handling of bales of hay, soil or
fertilizer; haymaking machinery (forage harvesters or hay
rakes) or machines for removing snow from roads (blades
or turbines); or even simple counterweights.
This front equipment also generally requires
hydraulic systems to move the control elements.
Front loaders, for example, have cylinders that
allow you to lift the frame, move the bucket,
and even operate the cylinders of a tool to
 grip a tree trunk.
 Connection choices
The equipment can use up to six
hydraulic lines, in addition to any
 electrical connectors for
 controlling electrical or
 electronic components. These
 hydraulic lines can be
 connected either individually
 with manual quick couplings
 or with quick multi-coupling
 systems, which connect all
 the lines and the electrical
 connector at the same time.

 lines connection in complete safety
As for haymaking or snow removal equipment, the
cylinders that move the parts in use are, in turn, driven
by hydraulic lines connected with single quick-release
couplings. Stucchi is a well-established supplier of quick
couplings applied to the front of the
 tractor, especially of the
 flat-face type, and are
 interchangeable
 according to ISO16028.
 Flat-face quick
 couplings also offer many
advantages to the user in the
 agricultural sector compared
to the less evolved poppet type
 coupling. In fact, manufacturers
 are increasingly turning to this
 solution for their machinery and
 equipment.
 Stucchi flat-faced couplings allow
the machine and tools to be connected
with complete safety for the operator
and the environment thanks to the
 no-spill system that virtually eliminates
 the leaking
 of fluid. The
 couplings are
 also easy to
 clean before
 connection,
 reducing the
 possibility of
 contamination
 of the circuit.
 The GR/DP
multicouplings have up to 10 lines that can be connected
and disconnected at the same time in a safe, simple and
quick manner and with minimal effort. The lines can be
all of the same size or in different sizes according to the
 application.
The internal design of the A Series product and use
of highly resistant materials ensure impressive operating
pressure with minimal drop. The modular structure
allows for the flexible combination of several types
of threads or special ports for a variety of applications
 while maintaining compact size.
The continuous evolution of technologies and
growing use of agricultural tractors for an everincreasing
number of applications in both with rear and
front equipment will require exponentially more quick
couplings, especially of the flat-face variety. iVT
