which is one of the largest and most advanced
in Europe. The impressive plot on the outskirts of
Seville, Spain, made it possible for IDOM to plan each
component of the facility sustainably for all different
uses, from youth teams up to the first team. An
interesting objective of this project was minimizing
the impact vehicles had on the inside of the complex
and facilitating, through the design, the incorporation
of small electric vehicles for daily use.
A considered placement of the architecture within
the site completed the offering where, apart from all
the buildings required for the daily training of all
categories, a mini-stadium for the second team was
also planned, along with an Arena pavilion and a
specific area dedicated to the Real Betis Foundation.
Sport infrastructures are becoming more and more
important in cities and their surrounding areas. There
has been an increasing trend from both the public and
private sectors in many countries of showing strong
support for the development and improvement of its
citizens’ health through exercise and excellence of
professional sports. However, there are many places
in which this process is still in its early stages. For
both scenarios, IDOM is able to offer its experience,
technical capabilities and a wide geographical presence
that allows it to be close to clients to help them develop
their ideas. This makes it possible for clients to meet
their targets with the utmost quality in terms of
architecture, technique and applied consultancy, and
applying advanced technology to the sustainable
development of buildings and cities. n

ARENA ARCHITECTURE
IDOM’s sport architecture is not limited to stadia. The Bilbao Arena
has raised the standard when it comes to multipurpose pavilions,
capable of hosting international shows and competitions. Open to
the public, it turns this facility into a landmark for the whole city,
and was awarded with RIBA Eu Category in 2012. Recently, IDOM
completed the design for a 20,000-seat arena in Dwarka, India, and
also won the international competition for the design of the sports
area of the University of Monterrey in Mexico. It includes the master
plan of the area, as well as the construction of an Arena pavilion for
all indoor sports practiced at the university. The reference to the
surrounding landscape, the functionality and the architecture being
fully integrated with the rest of buildings on campus are the key
aspects of this design that will soon begin construction.

this ambitious project.
Having a full understanding of the demands of a
competition as prestigious as the Spanish soccer league,
IDOM is engaged with stadium renovation works for
other teams such as Levante UD, as well as in the early
stages of work for several first division teams.
In addition to large-scale stadium projects, training
grounds for top-tier soccer teams are another aspect of
sporting infrastructure that IDOM is involved with and
is able to offer support for its clients due to the number
of disciplines involved in this type of facility.
