production control room that houses 14 operators on a
matchday. This system allows synchronized production
of all audio, video and lights in the stadium bowl.
Wired for sound
The bowl production also integrates with the stadiumwide
IPTV system. This single system powers over
1,700 screens throughout the stadium including a
number of video walls. The system is zoned and
scheduled to provide specific content in all areas of the
stadium including concessions and hospitality areas.
Tottenham Hotspur has fully integrated its social
and online production with the in-stadium production.
All feeds are shared across both in-house and online
production teams and presenters to camera are
available both in the stadium and online either live
or for later posting.
Fan messaging is also an integral part of the
matchday experience and features on both the IPTV
and in the stadium bowl. The audio visual and
production systems allow the conversation with the
fans to be amplified in both directions throughout the
whole matchday and drives the club’s desire to enhance
the atmosphere on the pitch.
The audio visual systems have been fully integrated
into the ethernet network within the stadium allowing
true flexibility. This integration is key to the
transformation of the stadium into the only purposebuilt
NFL stadium outside the USA. The venue also
supports a thriving non-match commercial offering
centered around the 800-capacity East Quarter venue.
As Spurs settle in and grow in their new stadium
the AV infrastructure has been designed to grow and
expand with them, giving the quality and flexibility
to allow creativity across matchday and all uses of the
venue. This is, in many ways, the most exciting aspect
of the project. n
he new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is
an elite venue for both English Premier
League and UEFA soccer and NFL, with
the role of audio visual systems in the new
venue central to the club’s aspiration for
a benchmark in fan experience.
The scale of the project was immense and required
a dedicated and constant on-site presence from expert
audiovisual consultants, Vanguardia, with its team
managing an evolving brief over more than two years.
Led by associate director Mark Murphy and his team
of AV specialists, Vanguardia worked closely with
the club’s directors and content team, as well as
collaborating with the architects and a multitude
of different contractors.
The journey of the club from its former home,
White Hart Lane, to the new stadium included a
residency at Wembley Stadium. The project involved
running a creative process to determine the look and
feel for the new stadium, which led to a technical
production workflow to produce all media content
related to the stadium experience in parallel with the
installation and commissioning of the physical audio
visual systems within the new venue.
The new Stadium includes the largest LED video
screens in the English Premier League, boasting over
10,700ft2 (1,000m2) and three levels of balcony front
ribbon boards. The perimeter LED is also the longest
and largest UEFA compliant system in the world. This
wealth of screen real-estate is mapped to every single
pixel and powered by an in-stadium broadcast quality
