 ACTION
When the Texas Rangers’ new Globe Life Field opens
in 2020, it will deliver to fans one of the most impressive
visual experiences in all of Major League Baseball
close viewing and video wall applications. It will
serve as a press conference backdrop for the Rangers.
Whenever fans look to the outfield, they will see
more than 13,000ft2 (1,200m2) of displays with more
than 5.2 million pixels. To put that into perspective,
that’s the equivalent of 1,220 60in televisions. Of
course, fans watching from home will only get to
see the action on just one television, so the Rangers
ballpark has the clear advantage here.
Ribbon displays will also be mounted along the
seating fascia for additional viewing pleasure. These
ajor League Baseball’s Texas Rangers are
building a new ballpark in Arlington,
Texas, where a major aspect of the
 project will deliver a state-of-the-art
 video display system featuring nine
LED screens and 1,400 LCDs as part of an IPTV
 (Internet Protocol Television) system.
Set to open in 2020, Globe Life Field will present
Rangers fans and event goers with an incredible visual
experience every time they enter the ballpark, thanks
to 18,350ft2 (1,704m2) of LED video displays boasting
a total of 8.8 million LEDs, that will cater to every fan’s
 video and replay expectations.
Integral to the installation project is display experts
Daktronics, which is outfitting the stadium with the
LED videoboards, IPTV and control systems. Part of
the package is its Show Control System, which features
Live Clips and Camino technology that will fully
integrate all the displays together from a single, easyto
 use control solution.
All displays at the venue, except for one, are capable
of High Dynamic Range (HDR) imagery to bring more
vibrant color and dramatic contrast to the content
shown. These displays feature Surface Mount Device
(SMD) LEDs at 15mm line spacings. The one display
that isn’t HDR-capable is repurposed from the team’s
soon-to-be-former Globe Life Park stadium (also in
Arlington, Texas) as a centerfield tower display
featuring a 15HD pixel layout and still capable of highresolution
 imagery.

The stadium will also feature displays with 6, 3.9, and
2.5mm line spacings. The 2.5mm display is part of
